What cookies are
Small files that help a website remember you
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember things between pages, such as the fact that you are signed in.
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
Cookies we use
Three essential cookies, set only when you sign in or use a form
If you are just browsing, we generally set no cookies at all. These are set when you sign in or submit a form:
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
sessionid | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages | 2 weeks, or until you sign out |
csrftoken | Protects login, sign-up and registration forms from misuse by other websites | 1 year |
messages | Shows one-time notices, such as "You have signed in" | Until you close your browser |
These cookies are strictly necessary, so they cannot be switched off without stopping sign-in and forms from working.
Third-party services
Search, donations, sign-up, sign-in, spam protection and videos
Some features use outside services, which have their own cookie and privacy policies:
- Site search is provided by Algolia. The words you search for are sent to Algolia to return results.
- Donations are handled by Stripe, our payment processor, which may set cookies during checkout to process payments securely and prevent fraud.
- Mailing-list signup takes place on a Constant Contact page.
- Spam protection on some forms uses Google reCAPTCHA, which may set Google cookies to tell people and bots apart.
- Sign in with Google, if you choose it, takes you to Google, which uses its own cookies to sign you in.
- Embedded videos, such as YouTube bhajan recordings, may set cookies when you play them.
Our links to Facebook, YouTube, X and Instagram are plain links; those sites set cookies only if you visit them.
Managing cookies
Control cookies from your browser settings
You can view, block or delete cookies in your browser. If you block all cookies you can still read the website, but you will not be able to sign in or submit forms.
The Tattvamasi app
How our mobile app differs from the website
Cookies are a web browser feature, so this policy covers ayyappasamaaj.org. The Tattvamasi app does not use browser cookies, but it may store similar information on your device, such as what keeps you signed in.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects and how you can control notifications.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page before anything changes
If we ever start using other kinds of cookies, such as analytics, we will update this page first and, where required, ask for your consent.
For more on how we handle personal information, see our Privacy Policy.
