Accessibility

We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. These are the guidelines most widely used to make websites work for people with disabilities.

The website is run by volunteers, and we are making these changes step by step. Parts of the site do not meet the guidelines yet; they are listed below.

• A "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page, for keyboard and screen reader users.
• Every page has one main region and headings in order, so screen readers can move around the page.
• A clear outline shows which link or button has the keyboard focus.
• The home page banners can be paused and played.
• Pictures, buttons and links that lacked a text description now have one a screen reader can read.
• Text colors have been darkened where they were hard to read.
• Menus open and close from the keyboard and close with the Escape key.

• Bhajan and Shloka PDFs. Most publication PDFs are not yet tagged for screen readers. If you need one in another format, email us and we will send you the text.
• Videos. Some bhajan videos have no captions, or only the captions YouTube makes automatically.
• Forms. Some form errors are not yet announced to screen readers, and a few drop-down lists cannot be used with a keyboard.
• Services from other companies. Payments (Stripe), the mailing list sign-up (Constant Contact) and spam checks (Google reCAPTCHA and Cloudflare Turnstile) are run by other companies. We choose them with accessibility in mind but cannot change how they work.

A volunteer will reply. Where we can't fix the page quickly, we will get you the information another way, for example the text of a bhajan, or help registering for an event.

We update this page as problems are fixed or found. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
